1. First, congratulations to your new album! I like to ask you why there was so much time between your demo "Arise" and the album?
Thanks, we're happy to finally get the album out. The reason for the gap of time between the album and our "Arise" demo was due to member changes in the band.
2. Tell me more about your album, it has a good sound, in which studio have you been?
All the songs were recorded in our home studio, except "It Is Written"s drum tracks. I personally mastered and mixed down all the songs.
3. Tell me more about your members, your drummer is very good.
We have had several member changes due to lack of total dedication, and members pursuit of other endeavours. Jason our drummer is not currently with us, although we are talking, it remains to be seen if he will return to the band. Paul our bassist is no longer playing with us. However our original bassist Schaun from the "Arise" demo is going to be back recording with us for our next release.
4. Can you tell me more about the history from Hearken?
Hearken gave its national debut at the Michigan Mosh Fest in 1996. Since then we released the "Arise" demo and now our album. We have been out of the scene for almost 2 yrs. now but are working on new material.
5. What does Hearken mean?
We got our name from Isaiah 34:1. It means to listen and pay attention to what's being said. Or listen to what God is saying, and heed his words!
6. Can you tell me more about the lyrics, about the title track?
"Nuclear Negligence" is based from Zecharaih 14:12. It talks about a brutal future event that could be some type of nuclear/chemical/biological catastrophe. The Bible says in the last days there will be wars & rumors of wars.
7. Which bands do you like, influence you?
I can't say that any bands really influence us, it's mainly through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that music is orchestrated. Some bands that I've personally enjoyed in the past have been Living Sacrifice, Seventh Angel, Mortification, Deitritus, and several others. I dont listen to much any more, but like many styles of music, even some classical.
8. Which bands have you played with, have you already played with non-christian bands?
We have played with Deliverance, Tourniquet, Living Sacrifice, Crimson Thorn, Embodyment, to name a few, and we were asked to play the Milwaukee Metal Fest before our drummer left, which is the biggest Secular Metal Festival in the U.S.
9. Have you already found a label?
We were on a label a couple years ago, but have moved on since then. Right now we are not signed, and really not concerned about it, unless God opens a door to some other label. Our main focus is that souls are changed for eternity.
10. Any last words?
We have a new song we will be releasing to be included on the album called "March Of Triumph", which was not previously released. It will be on all future pressings of "Nuclear Negligence". I appreciate you interviewing us, and may God bless you for your support! It's our desire and prayer that many souls will come into the Kingdom of God through our Music. Time is short, the days are evil and Jesus is Coming Soon!
Thanks again Dirk, we might be uploading "March Of Triumph" on mp3.com. Everyone who has heard it loves it! Be looking for more material soon as I re-unite with our Bassist Schaun from "Arise".
